15 At-Home Date Ideas

In the midst of Valentine’s Day, many couples are starting to put together their day filled with love. Throughout the day there are flowers, poems, chocolates, but what about dates? You don’t have to go out to have a fantastic date night. You can do it from the comfort of your own home! You can enjoy a picnic in your Pavilion or have a bake-off!

In this article, we’ll touch on 14 at-home date ideas for your Valentine’s Day or just for your date night!

Date #1: Make a bucket list for the next 10 years

Something fun and sweet that you and your spouse can do together is to make a bucket list for the next ten years. This gives you two a chance to sit and talk about what you see your life looking like together! You can plan future vacations, future birthdays, anniversaries, etc. What do you to want together?

Date #2: A romantic dinner made in your outdoor kitchen

One of the pros of an Outdoor Kitchen is that you get to enjoy the comfort of your beautiful backyard and have dinner with a view. Enjoy a beautiful sunset together or watch your pets roam the backyard, admiring your own life.

For an added touch, hire a private chef for the evening to come and cook for you. You get all the luxuries of a 5-star restaurant but from the comfort of your own home. They’re often affordable pending the kind of meal you’re looking for and most of the time they come with all of their own supplies and clean-up equipment! Get all dressed up and enjoy a lovely dinner in your outdoor kitchen!

Date #3: Snuggle for a movie night

Take a trip down memory lane and put on a movie with sentimental meaning for you and your partner. Watch the first-ever movie you saw together in theatres or the film that you know is your partner’s favorite. Set up a charcuterie board of movie snacks, poor some sodas or wine, and snuggle up!

Some ideal at-home date moves could be:

  • Crazy, Stupid, Love
  • Hitch
  • Dirty Dancing
  • When Harry Met Sally
  • You’ve Got Mail
  • Grease

Date #4: A picnic on the Pavilion

A Pavilion gives your outdoor living area an elegant touch. It adds shade and a space that you can customize for holidays or for an at-home date night! One of the cutest ways to dress up a Pavilion is for a romantic picnic. Layout a blanket, some delicious foods, a couple of fancy glasses, and you’re set for a beautiful evening.

You could even take it one step further by making it a candlelit picnic where the only light source is the moon and the flames! Low lighting always adds a touch of mystery and romance to an evening!

Date #5: Give each other a couple massage

You don’t need a massage therapist to have a couples massage! Nor do you have to be good at giving massages. You just need a little massage oil, some essential oils, and some relaxing music. This is an opportunity to communicate with your partner. Ask them what kind of massage they want, what they enjoy most, and get close to each other again.

Date #6: Have a photoshoot on your Outdoor Living Structure

Weather permitting, get all dressed up and be each other’s professional (or not so professional) photographer! Put on a suit, a dress, and a post for the camera! You’ll likely get some genuine shots of you laughing and smiling as your partner does their best to find your “good side”.

Use this time to shoot some boudoir-style photos or recreate your favorite iconic movie scenes together. Add a little spice to your photoshoot!

Date #7: Make dessert together

Challenge your partner to a bake-off or make dessert together! You can each choose a fancy dessert and play “top chef”. If you’re not competitive, combine your skills and make a beautiful homemade dessert together.

Date #8: Wine tasting with covered eyes

Who needs a winery when you have a grocery store filled with wine from all over? Hit the store and pick out some wines you haven’t tried. Get a little crazy with it. Try some dessert wines or some fruity flavors. The trick here is that you’ll have your eyes closed. This adds a sensual and romantic touch to a wine tasting as your partner holds each glass to your lips.

If wine isn’t your thing, don’t worry, this kind of tasting works just as well with cheese or fruits!

Date #9: Have a paint-off

You don’t have to be an artist to have a paint-off with your partner. In fact, the worse you are at painting, the more fun it will likely be. Pick a subject, a topic, or a concept and challenge each other to some friendly competition. Don’t be afraid to get a little messy and get some paint on each other in the process, you can always wash it off later!

Date #10: Play some games!

Games make excellent at-home date night activities whether indoors or in your outdoor living space. The key here is to choose games that’ll spice up the evening. Consider options like He Said She Said or Would You Rather. Make the evening all the more romantic by using candle lighting and putting on a sexy movie in the background. You could even play hide and seek but spice it up and throw on some sexy outfits or even play nude!

Date #11: Dance in your outdoor living area

Set up your outdoor living space to that of a space that holds sentimental meaning to you. Pull out your prior wedding decorations or make it look like prom night from high school. Add ambiance lighting with red light bulbs, candles, even a disco ball. Make the space on your dance floor and put on those songs that you know your partner loves or that represent a part of your relationship.

Date #12: Bowl in the hallway

This involves a little crafting behind the scenes, but bowling in your home is an absolute blast! You have to make your bowling pins either from scratch or use items in your home. Some people use toilet paper rolls. Other people use plastic cups. Find a softball and challenge each other to a fun game of bowling!

Date #13: Go glamping (in your backyard).

Glamping is something that’s become all the rage for the past several years. You get the beauty of the outdoors, with the luxuries of a more traditional indoor setting. However, if you can’t afford (or just don’t want) to take a trip to a glamping site, that’s okay!

You can go glamping in your own backyard by building a bonfire, making some s’mores, pitching a luxury tent, whatever you desire really! Since you’re in your own backyard, you have the option to spice it up with some sexy music, lingerie, chocolate-covered strawberries, really “glam” up the experience!

Date #14: Quiz each other

Now, this isn’t an interrogation. This is a fun way to test each other’s knowledge of the other person. Ask questions like “what’s my zodiac sign?”, “Where did we go for our first date?”, “What is my favorite food?”, etc. Keep it light and fun. Reward each other by playing your own version of the “strip questionnaire”. Every time someone gets an answer right, an item of clothing is removed.

Date #15: Become a bartender

Creating your own cocktail is not as hard as you might think! The fundamental elements of a cocktail— the spirit, the balancing agents like sugar or citrus juice, the modifiers, and water – work together, to keep the engine humming. Keep in mind that what feels disjointed to one person might taste magnificent to the next, so experiment until you find your personal preferences. If you like it, then you’re right. And if you don’t know where to start – steal like an artist bartender – don’t be shy to get inspired by our selection of valentine’s cocktails. And last, if you fell in love with your new cocktail, don’t forget to give the baby a name.

Final thoughts:

An at-home date night doesn’t just have to be dinner and a movie. You can make them extra special with a few personal touches. Give each other a massage or capture some loving moments on your pavilion or outdoor living space! Enjoy each other’s company and rekindle your love with at-home dates!
